We were lucky enough to attend Cosmoprof North America this year, and the hits just kept on coming. With thousands of indie brands come hundreds of exciting innovations, and we’re excited to share some of our favorite finds.

Bioyona

You’ve probably heard about caviar in skin care, but Bioyona takes it one step further. After intensive research, the brand found that using embryonic stem cells of deep-sea fish species can be more beneficial than caviar or roe. They used this knowledge to create patented biotechnology, Totipotent Prostembryona Factor (TPF), which is more easily absorbed by skin. The result is an excellent anti-aging ingredient that boosts moisture, brightening, elasticity and firmness.

Forgotten Skincare

The oft-forgotten skin under our armpits, around the bikini line and the inner thighs need just as much TLC as the rest of our body, if not more. Forgotten Skincare offers effective body hyperpigmentation solutions for all the nooks and crannies that need it. I’ve been loving The Original Underarm Brightening Deodorant Cream ($44) and Get It Bright Exfoliating Body Scrub ($42).

 Firstbase

The aesthetic of this brand made us stop in our tracks and immediately want to know more. Right now, the brand only has its first launch out, Double Dose Organic Vitamin C Serum ($118), and we’re loving it. We got a sneak peek of what’s to come, and let’s just say you’ll want to be on the email updates list.

Intoxicated Cosmetics

Sure, snail serum and honey from bees are trending ingredients in skin care but what about snail, bee and snake venom? Intoxicated Cosmetics’ serums feature formulas based on ectothermic animal venom, plant-based stem cells and a number of active biomimetic peptides and natural ingredients. Their goal is to bridge the gap between topical products and injectable solutions, even mimicking some of the effects of neurotoxins.

Qweenicap

As a new owner to curtain bangs, I’ve learned a lot. One of the biggest lessons I’ve come by is that, often, the bangs need to be washed sooner than the rest of your hair. Cue me crouched over a sink, trying to wash only my bangs without getting the rest of my hair wet. Just hours after I did this before the conference, Qweenicap sat down with me and solved all of my problems. I never knew I needed a shower cap with an opening that allows you to wash just your bangs, or any other part of your hair for that matter, but now that it’s in my life, I can’t imagine being without it.

Goodbye Glue

While we love faux eyelashes, the glue we use to put them on certainly doesn’t love our skin back. Thankfully we learned about Goodbye Glue Strips that allow you to easily and safely apply and remove lashes with a medical-grade sticker.

TiL

Once we learned about TiL, we wanted to make it our entire personality. A trio of sisters were inspired by the gorgeous linden trees on their family’s property to make wellness products. The linden is known for its calming powers. The sisters have implemented linden skin, hair and body products as well as supplements and perfume. It’s worth noting Françis Kurkdjian worked on the fragrance, so you know it’s divine.

Joon

Joon is a culmination of Persian traditions and modern science. The founders took their experience in their grandmother’s kitchen and their hair salon expertise to create the formulas behind Joon featuring saffron, rose, fig and pomegranate. The Saffron Hair Elixir Oil ($28-$50) is a current favorite.

Ameva

Ameva skin care employs regenerative mevalonic acid which helps boost skin’s capacity to produce its own collagen, hyaluronic acid and growth factors. Cells transform mevalonic acid into CoQ10, squalene, retinol, vitamin K and lipids, which are key to skin repair and renewal.

Love, Indus

Love, Indus’ ingredient list is a love letter to the natural offerings across India, including single estate tea from Darjeeling and golden mustard blossoms from Punjab. We’re especially impressed by the Amrutini Luminosity Dewdrops Overnight Oasis Serum ($135) and Freedom of Expression Dual-Purpose Line Limiter ($88).

The products, handmade in Korea, feature Vitalucent Complex—a proprietary formula of bearberry leaf extract, mulberry leaf extract, licorice root extract and Panax ginseng extract which naturally promote skin brightening.
