Aplós was founded by David Fudge and Jessica Manley, who, like many Americans, were looking for ways to drink less alcohol and consumer better quality products.
David, who previously worked in marketing for Bonobos and Esquire, enjoyed the ritual of drinking alcohol and the function that it provided as a way to relax after work or socialize with friends. However, the downsides were considerable, so he sought out to develop a healthier way to unwind without the negative side effects. When David met his co-founder Jessica Manley, they bonded over their desire to create a product to help people slow down, a counterpoint to the “always-on” culture. Manley, whose family founded High Times Magazine, co-founded CBD consultancy Healing Ventures, where she helped brands to source and develop hemp and CBD-infused products. She was the perfect partner to help bring David’s vision to life.
Jessica led sourcing and formulation for Aplós and brought in Masterclass mixologist Lynette Marrero to collaborate on the initial recipe. The result is a calming yet mood-boosting spirit that has the versatility of a traditional spirit, in that it can be served neat, on the rocks, in a spritz, or mixed in a cocktail.
