About

Women-founded and family-run business started by Montessori parents. Inspired by their own littles to build child size furniture and educational toys that are open-ended , engaging, and benefit both learning in the classroom and at home. Blueberry and Third initially started their collection in their own home, then branched out to local markets, trade shows, school conferences, and developed hundreds of relationships with retail stores and early educators throughout the US.


Blueberry and Third is committed to designing and crafting products that promote exploration, imagination, and hands-on learning experiences for children. With a focus on quality, safety, and environmental responsibility, they strive to be a trusted partner for parents, caregivers, and educators seeking long-lasting solutions for children's spaces. Blueberry and Third designs and manufactures everything in their facility in Northern Virginia and are proud to be a sustainable US-made option for the kids industry. 

Founding Story

The founders, Nikki and Brian are husband & wife and partners that have a passion for parenthood, woodworking, and quality children products. They combined all three to create Blueberry and Third. It all started when they built The Climbing Arch for their daughters first birthday. She was all over the place and they wanted to have something that was hers to climb, but also wanted it to fit seamlessly into their co-living and play area. They had friends come over blown away that they built The Climbing Arch- even though Brian had 15+ years of woodworking experience. They decided to build a workshop so they would be able produce The Arch and other Montessori-inspired play furniture (and toys!).


They often get the question of how they came up with their name, and they're not shy to say! Blueberry comes from the first drink that they shared on their first date, and Third is the street where their family started and many of their first wood children's and home designs were born.
