BROOKLYN, NEW YORK (March 2021) -- Boober, the destination for expectant and new parents to find comprehensive classes and on-demand care providers from pregnancy to postpartum, announced today an investment of $200,000 from Antler, the global early-stage VC, joining its prestigious portfolio of defining companies of tomorrow. Individual strategic investors include Miki Agrawal (founder of Tushy and Thinx) and Amos Elliston (CTO of Flexport).
Over the last twelve months, boober has expanded rapidly, driven by the adoption of its digital marketplace among families seeking better solutions and support during pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. The latest round of funding will be used to increase boober's growth, deepen investment in its technology and expand marketing activities to capitalize on the $8 billion market for complementary maternal healthcare.
“Antler is incredibly excited about being part of the boober team,” said Tyler Norwood, General Partner, Antler. “From the first time we met Jada, her passion, experience, and vision for boober stood out to us. She made us believers in a future where women in the United States have significantly better access to pre- and postpartum services and support and, most importantly, that they are the right team to solve this problem. Boober is on the right track to improving and updating the birthing experience in a dramatic way.”
Since this past October, boober has grown 24% month over month while maintaining 100% 5-Star Google reviews. Boober’s network is expanding to include new specialties like sleep consultants, nutritionists, massage therapists, pelvic floor therapists, and more, filling in critical gaps in a broken healthcare system. With the launch of boober’s live online childbirth classes — a new set of expert-led virtual classes designed to help parents get the education they need to successfully navigate pregnancy, birth, and new parenthood — boober is the only end-to-end care solution for pregnancy to postpartum accessible to all. At the start of the pandemic, boober took the lead and launched a series of free webinars with OBGYNS, Midwives, and Pediatricians to provide evidence-based information and expert guidance to new parents facing new challenges. Boober has since hosted over 100 webinars alongside national partners such as Hatch Collection, Frida Mom, Happiest Baby, Yumi, and Elvie.
With the view that the US healthcare system fails new parents, boober is stepping in to fill in the gaps. Currently women only one have postpartum visit to their OBGYN six weeks after giving birth, which makes it no surprise that new moms are struggling and working so hard to find complementary care providers like doulas, lactation consultants and mental health therapists. The system for finding these providers has been fragmented, complicated, and frustrating, until now. Boober connects expectant and new parents to expert online classes and qualified care providers. Boober care is provided virtually nationwide, and in-person in some key markets.
“Doctors alone cannot provide all the care new mothers need,” said Jada Shapiro, Founder, boober. “With this latest round of investment, boober will continue to deliver on its mission to empower new parents to transform their perinatal outcomes and experiences. We will give them more access to the education, the resources, and the maternal care providers they need to thrive.”
