Arlington, TX – May, 3rd, 2021: Calyan Wax Co., a give-back candle brand wants to give you a simple way to say “no more” to human trafficking in our country. Founded in 2017, Calyan Wax Co. is focused on raising awareness and financial resources for nonprofits doing tangible, gritty work in the human trafficking field.

“I became passionate about the issue of human trafficking and social injustice in general during my college years. Fueled by this passion, I decided the most strategic and impactful route was to start a business instead of starting another nonprofit in this space. I did not want to compete for donations alongside incredible organizations already doing great work. Rather, I wanted to come alongside trusted nonprofits with the financial backing they desperately need.”, Jacob Johnson, Founder.

This financial backing comes from candle sales. Calyan Wax Co. manufactures and sells high quality scented soy candles while donating 5% of all revenue to their trusted nonprofit partner, Traffick911 based in Addison, TX.

“We chose candles as our foundational product because it’s a familiar item most of us have in our homes already. We wanted a simple, practical product people could enjoy, knowing they are making social impact.”, Jacob Johnson.

To date, Calyan has donated over $115,000 to their partner non-profit, Traffick911. These funds have allowed Traffick911 to continue expanding their Voice and Choice Advocate Program focused on assisting survivors coming out of the human trafficking trade.

The Voice and Choice Advocate Program provides 24/7 crisis response, advocacy in the legal system, regular one on one mentoring (every week or every other week touch points, meals shared, conversations, celebrations, etc.), family engagement where appropriate, grocery assistance, clothing assistance, coordination of medical care and therapy services, coordination of continuing education, and shelter or housing.

“It is incredible to see thousands of Americans choosing to make a social impact with a simple candle purchase. The dollars add up—and they lead to young lives coming out of the dark, abusive world of trafficking and into a world full of hope, restoration, and relational reconciliation. How cool is that?” said Jacob Johnson.

You can buy Calyan candles on their website, in your local Whole Foods store in Texas, Arkansas, Louisiana, and Oklahoma, at their store front in Arlington, TX, or in hundreds of local stores throughout the U.S.
