Tom Penner is the CEO of Current Backyard, a brand backed by W. C. Bradley Co. Current Backyard is seamlessly integrating technology, uncompromising design, and industry-leading performance into state-of-the-art products and experiences to elevate outdoor living.

As the CEO of Current Backyard, Tom is responsible for all commercial operations in North America and the rest of the world outside Europe including product development, sales, marketing and more. Tom has held a variety of senior executive positions for a wide range of consumer goods and private equity companies. With a background in global brand companies and general management, Tom is focused on transforming organizations and portfolios to grow market share in competitive categories. These transformations are rooted in new market strategy, product innovation, organization restructuring and process improvement.

Prior to joining Current, Tom was chief executive officer of Professional Plumbing Group (PPG), an innovator and distributor of high-quality plumbing products. During his 4-year tenure as CEO, PPG transformed its portfolio to grow sales over 50% and successfully acquired the Speakman Company to nearly double profitability. Tom was also previously Group President of Kohler® Interiors, where he reshaped the portfolio to pursue growth segments and initiated the divestiture of the Baker® and McGuire® furniture businesses. Tom has extensive general management and marketing experience prior to Kohler that included leadership of North America operations at oneCARE and running brands at SC Johnson.

Tom holds a MBA from the University of Michigan and bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and History from Bethel College (KS). He currently resides in Columbus, GA with his wife and has two grown children.
