Located in Salt Lake City, Dented Brick Distillery® is an artisan distillery handcrafting small batch spirits from grain-to-glass. Dented Brick Distillery's offerings include a range of handcrafted spirits like Rye Whiskey, Rum, Vodka and Gin.

Dented Brick Distillery is named in honor of the well driller responsible for the artesian well located at the distillery — the source of water for their spirits. The well driller was killed in a blazing gunfight that left impressions in the bricks of his house. To honor the well driller, some of those "dented bricks" were incorporated into the new distillery building and gave it its name.

founding story

A few years back a small group of entrepreneurs from Utah gathered to start the weekend with a craft cocktail hour. As usual, they discussed what they thought made the ideal drink and how it might taste.  After repeating this ritual over the years, they finally had the guts to bring to life their passion for the highest quality spirits and recipes from centuries-old pioneers.

It was important that they build a world-class distillery in Salt Lake City with the integrity that mirrors their lifestyle. So they agreed, just as they live purposefully and joyfully among the Wasatch mountains of Utah, so they will distill the liquid treasure and gift that comes from their local artesian well.  Combined with regionally sourced grains and house select yeasts, Dented Brick® now offers small batch spirits made for the most discerning palates.

When they set out to find the ideal land on which to build their distillery, they were armed with one critical piece of advice from an old moonshiner they had met in their travels and education in Kentucky. “It starts with the water!” this old moonshiner proclaimed, when giving his advice on the most important ingredient essential in making great liquor!  So it would be!

The search would end with a gift from heaven (and mother nature) — a property with an artesian water well!  The well would mark the spot where they would build their world class distillery.  What’s more, the land was once the farm of Utah’s very first distiller of record, Hugh Moon. Hugh produced whiskey in Salt Lake City for early Mormon pioneers in the 1850’s.

Marc Christensen
Managing Member & CEO

Marc is a proven entrepreneur and regulated markets wholesale distribution specialist who, as the Founder of Dented Brick Distillery, managed the venture from concept to fully operational production facility. Marc attracted and secured qualified distributors and built a national wholesale distribution network, bringing multiple brands to market in multiple states after only 36 months operation. As the C level executive for the entity, Marc is working to ensure the company stays true to its established plans and policies.

Prior to Dented Brick, Marc founded OTW Safety. He grew the venture from concept to a multi-million-dollar national manufacturing and distribution company, attracting qualified distributors and building a national wholesale distribution network, bringing multiple proprietary products to market in multiple states. 

DBD is committed to positively impacting its community by continuing to promote its brands through its participation in local events and its support of local charitable organizations. In 2019, DBD donated spirits to raise funds for The Utah Symphony, The Utah Pride Center, The Human Rights Campaign, Friends of Great Salt Lake, The Utah Avalanche Forecast Center, and several other local charities.

Marc is a graduate of University of Utah with a BS in Economics. 

Aside for his passion for making cocktails, Marc is a passionate skiier and loves to ride mountain bikes.

This water is sourced directly from the majestic Wasatch mountains of Utah, home to the greatest snow on earth. This snowmelt then flows into the distillery's own artesian well creating the unique flavor profile crafted from this mineral rich water. Premium rum aged in Cabernet wine barrels makes Antelope Island Red unique.

Aging in wine barrels creates compelling aromas and flavors of cola candies, cinnamon red hots, marzipan, spumoni, and caramel syrup with a lean, soft, fruity light body and a hot, short finish that presents shades of root beer float and wood shavings finish. A serviceable rum for mixed drinks.

Disco-Nut Rum began in 2020 as a collaboration with the Utah Pride Center and The Pride Center at Equality Park in Florida, with a portion of all proceeds from bottles sold donated to support these organizations! Disco-nut is a coconut flavored rum, flavored with real coconut, but we've added a special edible glitter. The unique inclusion of edible glitter allows for the creation of social media-worthy cocktails as distinctive as they are socially responsible. Be sure to shake it!

Made from 81% ABV light rum base distilled from sugar cane molasses in the US Virgin Islands, this sourced rum is proofed down to 25% ABV with Artesian well water, filtered through multiple charcoal filters, before being blended with coconut syrup and edible glitter.
