Dented Brick Distillery has been recognized as the Utah Rye Distillery of the Year by the New York International Spirits Competition (NYISC) following the submission of their premium rye whiskey, Moon’s Best, in the 2021 competition. The NYISC is one of the largest international spirits-tasting competitions, with over 1400 submissions from 37 countries and 34 states in this year’s event.
“I couldn’t be more excited,” said Harley Norwood, head distiller at Dented Brick. “This was our first release of a rye whiskey, and I think that we've managed to develop a recipe where we can create our own unique and delicious identity within the industry. For me, winning this award feels like a reflection of all of the hard work and dedication the whole company has put forth.”
“It must be something in the water,” joked Dented Brick founder and CEO Marc Christensen. “We use artesian well water in every step of the production process here at Dented Brick. It’s filtered naturally through the limestone, coming out with a perfect minerality and flavor for whiskeys. We’re honored to receive this award, and we look forward to next year’s competition.”
Established in 2015 and located in Salt Lake City, Dented Brick Distillery has made a name for itself through its grain-to-glass spirits, locally sourced ingredients and use of artesian well water. It is the recipient of over 65 other medals and awards. In addition to whiskey, Dented Brick produces vodkas, gins, and rums.
