For 96 years, Hawaiian Host, Hawaii’s No. 1 Consumer packaged goods company, has been combining premium ingredients – handcrafted milk chocolate and dark chocolate, Hawaiian honey, Kona coffee, to name a few – with dry-roasted macadamias to create its signature delights.
The longevity of Hawaiian Host is tied to the spirit of innovation of the founding couple, Mamoru and Aiko Takitani, and their desire to share the Aloha spirit of the Islands with the rest of the world. The Japanese immigrants hand crafted macadamias coated in chocolate in the 1950s in Maui – he perfected the signature milk-creme recipe and made the candy; she delivered it to local shops in their station wagon. And in 1960 they bought a rival Honolulu macadamia candy maker founded in 1927.
