Juniper, a 16,000 sq. ft all-season, immersive rooftop space located eight floors above Greenville, South Carolina’s award-winning Main Street, is inspired by the concept of the “intoxicating garden,” allowing guests of the urban gin bar to become immersed in a beautiful garden design completely unique to area. Boasting unparalleled views of downtown Greenville and the Blue Ridge Mountains, Juniper invites the community to relish in a new view of their city and proudly showcases the destination to visitors.
Juniper’s opening has invigorated the city’s downtown scene with an unprecedented offering that is experienced through its distinct design, innovative menu and theatrical experience that breaks the mold. From the moment you arrive, Juniper dares to stand out through a commitment to creativity and individuality over the use of a predictable hospitality formula. The magical setting and stunning cocktails are enhanced with surprise live performances and rather than a typical stage, the performers roam the rooftop and interact with patrons, offering a truly unique and memorable experience.
The sprawling and striking rooftop is comprised of multiple zones that seamlessly flow together, each one connected by glass doors and NanaWalls that open to allow for natural light and fresh breezes throughout. Juniper’s zones include the covered main dining room, which is anchored by an exquisite bar surrounded by walls of lush greenery; chic tables set against soaring windows and under a glass ceiling, which alludes to a whimsical greenhouse, complete with vines and branches that climb the windows and walls and suspend from above; partially open-air seating areas, including a patio offering fire pits and lounge seating and a terrace set with dining tables; the Gin Room, a special area for tastings and mixology classes; and the open-air Secret Cocktail Garden, which offers its own dedicated bar and unobstructed views. Artwork by local artists, seasonal flowers and large pots filled with organic palms and trees with canopies stretching overhead connect and complement every vibrant space while also adding another layer of drama. The playful drinks, stunning garden-inspired space and remarkable views can be enjoyed year-round with the venue’s Equinox roof and system of shades, heaters and fans.
Championing local artists was a priority when designing Juniper and the hotel partnered with Greenville’s Metropolitan Arts Council and Art and Light Gallery to commission works by local talent. The robust art collection includes works by both emerging and established artists in a range of mediums and styles, including two murals. Sunny Mullarkey and Eva Magill Oliver’s bright and colorful mural, Enlightenment, can be seen from below as locals and tourists alike are walking, running, and cycling on Greenville’s popular Swamp Rabbit Trail. Their mural, Forever Evergreen was inspired by the literal interpretation of the juniper plant and its herbaceous presence in gin.
