KAHINDO is a sustainable fashion brand that creates colorful, wearable art with a social impact. Ethically made in Africa using fair trade practices, KAHINDO features original prints made for the modern, global woman. KAHINDO caters to the socially conscious consumer who is looking for sustainable, fashion-forward pieces that are ethical, inclusive, colorful, and vibrant.

KAHINDO’s mission is to empower women and close the gender pay gap by paying fair living wages and creating sustainable jobs in Africa - three of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. KAHINDO supports ethical production and fair trade practices by partnering with sewing co-ops and artisans in Africa.

Founding Story

Founder, Kahindo Mateene started KAHINDO in 2017. She wanted to design clothing that represented her Congolese heritage and African upbringing in a modern way, while telling positive stories about the African continent, specifically in Sub Saharan Africa where she is from. Kahindo strives to use her brand as a vehicle to create job opportunities for women and share the heart and soul of Africa with the rest of the world.

Through Kahindo, she has been able to create jobs, empower women and help end poverty, all while making women look and feel beautiful.
