About

As any parent knows, mornings can be hectic. Whether your child has sensory issues or just very strong opinions, getting dressed can mean frustration and tears. That is why Mightly thinks about kids, not trends, in every step of their design process. They make comfy, play-friendly styles for kids of all genders. They use soft fabrics and itch-free labels so touch-sensitive kids don’t hate getting dressed. And they make their clothes extra durable by using premium cotton, high quality construction, and special features like reinforced knees so you can pass them along when your child outgrows them. But that’s not all. Mightly uses certified organic cotton and non-toxic dyes because it’s better for your kids and for the kids who live in cotton farming communities. Their supply chain is completely transparent and certified: they know their factory, their suppliers, and even where the cotton is grown. By using certified organic cotton and working with a Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) and Fair Trade Certified factory, Mightly supports sustainable farming and better working conditions for the people who make our clothes.

Mightly believes that farmers and workers should have safe and healthy working conditions and be paid fairly. They believe that all kids should be able to wear natural organic fabrics that are free from toxic dyes and chemicals. And they believe that all kids are Mightly, in their own way.

Founding Story

Mightly was founded in 2019 by three moms from Oakland, California; Tierra Forte, Barrie Brouse and Anya Marie Emerson. Between them they have three girls, two boys, one non-binary child, and over 40 years of apparel industry experience. Mightly's founders know that today’s parents care about issues like climate change and workers rights and that they want to buy from brands that align with their values. However, when it comes to sustainably made clothing for children, the options are limited and most are expensive and hard to find. Mightly's vision is to be the brand of choice for eco and socially conscious parents and grandparents by offering clothing that is “play-friendly, people-friendly and planet-friendly” .

In addition to building ethical supply chains for brands, Tierra has worked to create change throughout the industry. She was a leading member of the team that developed and launched the Fair Trade Apparel and Home Goods Standard, which has been adopted by industry influencers like Patagonia, West Elm, Athleta, Madewell, PrAna and Outerknown.
