‘Okina is an emerging food brand dedicated to bringing regeneratively-grown foods to the home kitchen. Launched in September 2020, ‘Okina’s first product line — gluten-free, vegan baking mixes — features whole food ingredients sourced directly from organic and regenerative family farms. Each and every ingredient is thoughtfully selected for its exceptional quality and responsible farming practices. The baking mixes are freshly milled in small batches, produced without any additives and are shipped directly to consumers for optimal freshness.
‘Okina’s current collection of muffin and bread baking mixes includes: Carrot Currant Masala, Banana Chocolate Chip, Zucchini Double Chocolate, Pumpkin Spice and Classic Base. The brand has been featured by Pop Up Grocer, BUBBLE, The Good Trade, The Strategist, Entrepreneur and Vegetarian Times.
What began as a mother’s quest to feed her kids the most nutritious (and delicious!) foods led to an unofficial education on the food system and what could be better. As she learned about regeneratively-grown foods, Kristin Eldredge began tracking down the best ingredients she could get her hands on, experimenting in her own kitchen.
Hoping to make it easier for others to feed their families and use these exceptional ingredients, she created her company ‘Okina. A nod to the letter in the Hawaiian alphabet representing a break between two syllables (like “Hawai’i”), the brand’s name represents a pause that renews both people and the planet — a pause Kristin hopes each customer can experience while using the products.
Of course, we’d all like to whip up delicious baked goods from scratch, but some days, there just isn’t enough time to purchase, let alone measure out all the ingredients. And those are the perfect days to let a package of ‘Okina do all the heavy lifting.
