SOUND makes better tasting, higher quality alternatives to the countless naturally flavored sparkling waters on the market. Sparkling water is one of the fastest growing beverage categories, yet almost all products have the same exact ingredient profile: Carbonated Water, Natural Flavors. We blend sparkling water with organic tea, botanicals and fruit extracts to create elevated sparkling beverages for the modern consumer. All of our products are completely unsweetened, Certified Organic, Certified Non-GMO and Whole30 Approved. SOUND is currently on the shelves of retailers including Whole Foods and Erewhon, and in the corporate offices of LinkedIn, Lyft, Spotify and many more. SOUND was named the Best New Organic Beverage at Expo East and has been featured by Bon Appetit, Self and many others.

Founding Story

SOUND was born out of necessity. Co-Founder, Tommy Kelly, was looking for a sparkling drink that didn’t have sweeteners or “natural flavors” on the label. After searching high and low, he wasn’t able to find any acceptable options. With a background in mechanical engineering, he put his degree to use and engineered his own beverage. The beverage soon caught the attention of his coworker, and soon to be co-founder, Salim Najjar, who was also an avid tea drinker and health fanatic. With a mission to redefine the sugar-laden beverage landscape, the two nuclear power engineers ditched their cubicles in 2015 to launch a new kind of sparkling beverage, one made with only “sound” ingredients — no sweeteners, Certified Organic, Non-GMO.

Prior to launching SOUND, Tommy worked as a Systems Engineer in the Nuclear Power industry. He received his BS in Mechanical Engineering from Loyola University – Maryland, and lives in New York City with his wife, Lauren, and their son. In his spare time, he can be found running along the West Side Highway, or volunteering with iMentor.

Salim Najjar

Before SOUND, Salim worked as a Project Manager and Engineer in the Nuclear Power industry. Salim received his dual BS in Electrical and Computer Systems Engineering atRensselaer Polytechnic Institute in New York. Salim lives in New York City and his hobbies include Bikram yoga, reading and all things SOUND. He also serves as the NYC Chair of the Non-Profit Foster Nation.
