about

The Good Hippie is a small-batch, natural, artisan line of skincare + beauty, handcrafted in Austin, Texas. We innovate, create, research sources and materials, manufacture, package, and write thank you cards for every order. Each step of our of process has the best intentions at heart. The Good Hippie (TGH) collaborates with artists, global and local, to create a product’s individual look and vibe. When you purchase a TGH product, you’re purchasing a complete product. In the near future, we’ll be working with women’s groups and nonprofits so that we can support our community.

We live and create by the Reiki Principles: Just for today, I will not be angry. Just for today, I will not worry. Just for today, I will be grateful. Just for today, I will do my work honestly. Just for today, I will be kind to every living thing.

founding story

The Good Hippie was founded in 2011 by a licensed massage therapist who was concerned about the ingredients found in the commercial creams, lotions, and oils that are available at most spas. Being up to her elbows in lotions all day, she started to see problems in her own skin.

The Good Hippie began by developing one product, the body oil, which you can still find in the shop. We focused on all-natural, pronounceable ingredients that are actually good for the skin. We loved the feeling of not only doing something better for her own skin, but also for her client’s skin. After overwhelmingly positive feedback, The Good Hippie was founded and now has expanded into more blends for the body and bath as well as skincare solutions for all skin types .

Every detail is intentional- down to the biodegradable bubble wrap. We want to provide high quality natural alternatives that are safe, vegan, and eco-friendly!

Emily McNabb
Owner

The Good Hippie began in 2011 as the brainchild of its Founder, who was a licensed massage therapist. Being (literally) up to her elbows in lotion all day, she conducted extensive research and found that most products contained a shocking amount of ingredients deemed toxic, even by lenient cosmetic industry standards. She began creating TGH’s signature body oil after her skin was being negatively affected by commercial lotions and oils in her daily work. She continued expanding her line in hopes of replacing unhealthy, big-brand products that are somehow widely considered acceptable. TGH is tirelessly devoted to developing products around holistic ideals regarding ethically sourced materials, clean production, vegan ingredients, and sustainable materials.

Current owner Emily McNabb, who is a close friend of the Founder, is a retired professional dancer and a certified yoga instructor. She has always held natural, holistic approaches to health in tandem with her active lifestyle, and has been an advocate for TGH since its inception. Emily took over the company from the Founder so that TGH could continue on “in the family.” Emily remains faithful to the original credo of creating healthy products that are sourced ethically and sustainably.

TGH is inspired by creating products that will replace the big-brand products around the globe, and hopes to encourage other companies to adopt better, healthier practices.
