Founded by Keneesha Hudson, Urbanbella was born out of a passion for natural hair and a desire to create a brand that caters to the specific needs of women with textured hair. Drawing on her own experiences as a salon owner Keneesha set out to create a line of products that would nourish and protect curly, coily, and kinky hair without compromising on quality or performance.
Today, Urbanbella offers a wide range of products, including shampoos, conditioners, stylers, and treatments, as well as bath and body products, all of which are made with nourishing ingredients and free from harmful chemicals and additives. Founding Story
Keneesha Hudson was born into a world that told her natural hair was unruly, unmanageable, and not beautiful. She grew up feeling frustrated and self-conscious about her hair and struggled to find products and styles that worked for her.
But Keneesha was determined to break free from these narrow, limiting definitions of beauty. She began experimenting with natural hair products and styles and discovered a passion for empowering women to embrace their natural hair and celebrate their unique beauty.
Armed with her background in business and a passion for helping other women on their journey to embracing their natural hair, Keneesha founded the natural hair brand "Urbanbella" in the heart of Atlanta, GA. From the beginning, the brand was dedicated to empowering women through education. Selecting beauty products is a confusing process and attempting to use them properly without proper guidance only leads to more frustration. Keneesha opened up The Urbanbella Apothecary, a small shop embellished with crystal chandeliers and a staff of beautiful women ready to educate and guide customers through their natural hair product purchases and beauty workshops. The first workshops were known as Curl Talk and Tea Events and were very popular with the natural hair community with women traveling in from all over the southeast to attend a session.
To further deliver the knowledge needed to master natural hair Keneesha added a hair salon offering services specifically for textured hair and aimed at helping customers understand how to work with their natural texture and look great.
As the brand grew, Keneesha worked tirelessly to craft a line of hair and body products and in 2009 the Urbanbella Signature Series Collection was officially launched with 5 items. Today over 80 individual formulas have been formulated by Keneesha and offered to the Urbanbella Tribe.
Despite facing challenges and setbacks along the way, Keneesha never wavered in her commitment to her vision and as a result, Urbanbella is a successful and respected natural hair brand. She has used her platform to inspire and empower women everywhere to love and embrace their natural hair.
Today, Urbanbella offers virtual workshops and launches a new Collection four times a year both hair and skin. Urbanbella continues to push the boundaries of beauty and self-expression, and they remain dedicated to their mission of celebrating the beauty and diversity of natural hair.
